I could see a use for an LSO on the fantail, especially for pilots less experienced with CV landings. Making him visible enough to be practical, however, is another matter.... Then again, they could do an inset box like Aces of the Pacific did. Something like:
.lso <field number> and it puts a box up with a guy guiding you into the boat during your landing approach.
