I don't have my references with me at the office, but this looks to be a Yokosuka P1Y1
Ginga (Which I recall was code named Francis by the Allies). The giveaway is the Homare 11 engines as the later versions switched to the Homare 12.

My regards,

Yup Widewing is right, its a P1Y "Frances"

Tied for 1st in my opinon (with the Ki67 "Peggy")  as the next must have bomber for AH

Nice drawing Snafu, where did you find it?

Hey Nacho, that "slow Jap bomber" can do 340mph at 19,000 ft, and its defensive guns are Type 99 20mm cannons. For comparisons sake, the fastest bomber in Aces High, the B-26B, will only do abut 280mph at the same altitude.

With a smart pilot and the defensive gun system of AH, it will be a very dangerous opponent, involving protracted tail chases in the gunnery arc of that 20mm cannon.

Good Luck ! You'll need it

Vermillion, well said (with all do respect for my squad mate, who has cleared my 6 numerous time's...)The P1Y1 is an incredible plane it would go well in the AH plane set, also it can carny torpedos and Powerful ones at that.

Yup, Francis it is, You even got the version correct <S> All.

Would make a very worthwhile addition to the planeset IMO, Fast Manouverable and can look after itself.

I got the pic out of an old WWII "Aircraft Recognition" magazine. I'm going to have to dig a bit deeper to find something to keep a thread alive a bit longer though me thinks.

Have you checked out my post on Japanese aircraft in the "History Forum"?

I think only the nose gun was 20mm, the rear was 13mm.  It would be nice to have this plane in AH, but in the MA it would just be fast moving dog meat.

Front and rear 20mm type 99, also it is way faster than a B26, and what bomber is not dog meat?

The web sight list's the 20mm arament as Ho-5's they were Type 99's not ho-5's ,ho-5's were army cannons and type 99's were Navy, the P1Y1 and varients were navy planes.
