Another Map Feature: Frontlines
« on: April 02, 2010, 04:42:36 AM »
Map Feature:  Click on "Frontlines" (much like the present zone button) and each country's frontlines are displayed with color shading.  The shading will be affected by both the zone bases captured and the damage taken in the new industrial areas.

Who would this interest, besides myself?  :O A bomber group decides to hit an industrial area, instead of looking at the stats % to see if an area has been sufficiently covered, the frontline would advance or retreat.  This would be a useful tool for mission planners, identifying possible targets.  Also, countrymen can see a graphic presentation of "advancement of troops" besides the base icon.

There are no front lines nor is there any "troop advancement".

For a reference, see: Viet Nam War

I like this idea, a lot.

I'd like to see GV spawns implemented into this idea that spawn you a half kilometer or so back from your side of the front line. The spawns would dynamically adjust as the frontline does. It would have a few "key spawn areas" of course, so people aren't spawning randomly along a 300 mile front.

Would really add a tension to the GV element, IMO. The enemy spawn gets closer and closer to your fields and strats as you defend, and the only way to move it back would be to capture nearby bases, or take out strategic targets.

Would also eliminate spawn camping to some extent. You could have a spawn camped, and then as the front line moves, the spawn does too.

Agree. Dynamic spawn points are an interesting idea.
