MAY FSO: RANGOON SUNRISE WRITE UP AND EVENT RULES
« on: May 02, 2010, 10:49:05 AM »
Ladies and Gents,

This month, the administration of FSO is a bit different as a result of ForHim's update of the AHEvents.org website.  As a result, I did not post a write-up for you guys to view as you wouldn't have seen it anyway.  Further, we were forced to hastily assign squads earlier this week in order to get the sides set before FH began his work, so that the email utility would still be available to both sides.

Regardless, here is the write-up and rules for the May FSO, Rangoon Sunrise.  I would ask that any discussion or questions be confined to the discussion thread please.

January, 1942

The Japanese expansion during the pre-war, and early-war periods of WWII were focused primarily on seizing and securing natural resources for the expansion of Japanese industry.  Japanese industrial and military planners were adamant that the future of Japanese culture and national identity were dependent upon the countries ability to become not only self-sufficient, but the military-industrial power of Asia.  The primary focus was the oil and mineral resources of the Dutch possessions in Malaysia and Indonesia.  In order to protect the northern flank of this expansion, the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) invaded southern Burma in early January, 1942.  Attacking from bases established in a now-friendly Thailand, the IJA pushed quickly across Burma, and within weeks, had moved north and threatened Rangoon itself.  Opposing the Japanese in the air were elements of the US AVG, Chinese Air Force, and the RAF.

This FSO setup will attempt to re-live the battles of January to March, 1942,
just after the Japanese Army invaded Burma, but before Rangoon fell.
