Ok ok I am sure many of you have seen this one asked before...

My NIC, GF2, SBLive!, Ultra IDE controller, and both USB are all sharing IRQ 9 under XP

In 98se i had things setup all perfect, with no sharing at all.
I am using an ASUS A7V 133A which by consulting the manual permitted me to ensure that no (important gaming) devices shared irq's in 98se that was fine. I haven't changed anything in my BIOS yet XP has its own way with me...

Can anyone point me to the fix

Funny that - on my laptop (Win2K Pro) virtually all my peripherals share the same IRQ9...

IRQ sharing is caused by ACPI..

If you want to get rid of shard irq's you have to get rid of acpi. Sometimes that might require a full OS reinstall..

So if everything seems to be working ok, don't touch it.

I had tried to fix some problems with my modem disconnecting everytime I entered AH when I 1st installed XP. Every indication was pointing me to my periphials cause if I disconnected them I got into the game. I coverted XP back to "Standard PC" but as weird as the problem was it turned out to be related to the new nvidia drivers...hehe. I don't think that you'll have problems with the IRQ sharing, but if you do and switch to standard PC it'll run thew setup again and reinstall all your devices.

If I only had a nickle for every time a problem turned out to be related to nVidia's NED's, I'd be a rich man.

Don't use the NED's! That E stand for Experimental... as in buggy! Use the WHQL approved versions at minimum. And as always, if what you have now works fine, don't mess with it. Only try different drivers if you have a problem.

Not sure what u are referring to Lephturn, but the IRQ's etc were assigned prior to installing any drivers.... BY XP

Sorry, not referring to your ACPI issue above Skurj... I was specifically responding to Wingnut_0's problem above that he mentions was caused by a set of NEDs.

I was using XP approved drivers and still had the problem. But is was quite a weird problem to begin with and until the white scrn made me thing it was IRQ related.
