Suddenly getting lower Frame rates
« on: January 10, 2000, 03:36:00 PM »
Hi folks last week my hard drive died on me.  I had to call up the friendly folks at Dell and have them send a new hard drive out to me.  Anyways I got the thing installed loaded up Windows yadda yadda yadda got every thing working and went and downloaded AH.  Began playing again a few days back and I noticed a substainial hit in game performance.  I'm averaging between 10 and 15 frames per second less than before sometimes they are dropping into the teens.  I'm fairly certain I have the latest video drivers but I'll go check again.  Anyways if anyone could give me a clue as to why this is happening I'd appreciate it.  I was wondering if it had something to do with the latest version since it was realeased while I was out of commission but I dunno.  Any help would be great.  Thanks in advance.

Whoops forgot system specs:
Dell Dimension XPS T500 (P3 500Mhz)
Diamond Labs V770 Tnt2
Soundblaster Live
128 megs of RAM

Sorry can't talk, gotta shoot.

My first guess would be your dirext x version and video drivers. Whith that system i would expect 45 fps in 1280x1024. Only other thing I can think of is after your windows reinstall, somthing got put in the back ground.
