Any good sticks for $50 or less?
« on: October 26, 2001, 07:14:00 AM »
My $20 POS took a crap on me last night, more spikes than a porcupine. I need to replace it but would rather not spend more than $50 (us.) I see alot of you guys are using Siatek (sp?) and CH stuff, but most of those are $80+, what are my options here?

Oh, and I supposed USB is better then gameport, correct?

Well. Any stick that feels good in your han and has enough hat switches and buttons to satisfy you shouldwork. I would recomend gettingone with an 8-way view hat versus the typical 4-way.
And there are regular gameport-to-USB adapter out there (11-28$ us depending on who you buy from) that work better than a gamecard or sound card port. You could use if you found a stick that felt right but was not USB.
I'm partial to CH. But haven't bought anything in about three years so no idea what the pcirces are for which sticks anymore.
You may get a better reply asking in the general forumn where more people read.

I'm still using my old MS PrecisionPro hoopty twist stick (tm by Creamo).
It have enough buttons, 8 view hat and it's optical (No potentiometers to give spikes).
I have MS Force feedback pro too but somehow I like PrecPro more.

I must recommend the Saitek Cyborg 3d Gold USB.  $39 new at CompUSA.  It helps that I'm left handed and this stick is adjustable for that.

I like my logitech wingman extreme.  Think they're still going for 39.95 or something like that.

Im about to buy an X45 though, so I want to sell it, its less than 3 weeks old... the only reason I want to sell it is because COMPUSA wont take it back because they only do returns within 14 days.. everything is in PERFECT condition.. the box and everything, ill even give ya the recept..

Thanks for the help guys. The price on that referb x36 is very tempting. However, I don't think I can wait for shipping. I'll swing down to best buy and see what they have. If I can't find something there, I'll order the x36.

Crud, looks like they are out of stock on the x36  :(

sidewinder precision 2 is good

I like the sidewinder ff2 with ff forces disabled though. the amount of resistance with the sliders turned up is closer to real aircraft than the sidewinder precision 2
Fester was my in game name until September 2013
