I need input-- midway --Nov.18, 2010

The week of November 18, 2010 I'm planning on running midway. What i need from you all is some input on a question. because its so easy to differentiate between Japanese and Navy planes, what do you guys say about no icons at all that week? just a question, it wont hurt you! let me know what you think!

 i say give it a try. what's the worst that can happen? if it seems to hurt the numbers in the beginning of the week, you can always turn on the friendlies again.

i personally cant tell any of the planes until i get with 1k on their 6.  Thats the only reason i like the short icon range we have now but im willing to give it a go.  Kill shooter on or off?

hmmmm theres a thought hehehe! no kill shooter ON. just playing with the idea of NO icons at all. if there are objections, we could always just do it for one night and not the whole week, im good with that too!

How about no friendly icons for the first half of the week and D1200 (half of what we normally have) for the second half. Then do a poll to see what players like the best; D2400, D1200 or no icons.

Kill shooter off is cool provided there's a CM around in case someone gets out of hand.

No icons at all sounds interesting.  I also would like to see killshooter turned off.  And if someone's in a Zeke not flying the "default" skin, would they still show as a bright white dot?  Hmmmm....

amongst the regulars, i can't see anyone getting out of hand. but you still may have a good idea though.

I've flown no icons in the past and my personal favorite settings are no enemy icons and very short friendly icons (300 to 400 yards max)

Here are the reasons.

Longer friendly icons are unrealistic and distracting in a fight.

No friendly icons reduces the comrades in arms aspect of the MMOG.

1200 feet is an approximate realistic distance to identify individual aircraft marking according to reasonably scientific testing. I have some science to back up the numbers as well.

No icons makes for a visually stunning fight but you feel pretty anonymous without the ability to figure out who the friendly is in the airplane on your wingtip. In reality you can fly in close enough formation to see a guy's face.
