an La-7 will out turn a K4. The La-7's performance is better at low alts, which when I was in the ava, most of the bases and fights were fairly high alts (at cloud layer level). Here a la-7 & the p39 are way out of their element, p39 doesn't have a supercharger.

Yeah, that's right, you just got your rear handed to you by a fuggly puppet!

OOPS!!

i forgot about that....and yes, most of the fights were up high. that is not the norm, but it could have something to do with the fact that the bases were at 4.5 and 5k ASL....so technically speaking, they were only about 5 to 10k AGL......

i like the twin rivers map a LOT, 'cause it seems to promote those down n dirty in the weeds scare the turtles make the camels poop themselves kinda fights.  :D

ok....i flew the 39Q minus the gondolas last night, as suggested by some.

what a friggin difference!!! she's still tough at higher altitudes, but i've got noticably better vertical, and she turns unbelievably at lower altitudes. the 2 50's have a harder punch than i'd have expected too. knowing i only have 400 rounds, is putting me back into my old habbits of just popping off bursts when i'm fairly sure of hitting, and not firing the cannon unless i'm very sure of a hit.

Nice!  Is that swept-back propeller designed to delay shock waves or just to reduce parasitic drag?

- oldman (always knew those 109s were fast for some reason)

that is a very scientific angle. when he decides to submerge it, he fires up the engine, and that particular angle of attack on the blades creates a very efficient vortex of water around the aircraft, allowing it to do a very respectable(but top secret) speed.

that last pic shows that we need to reposition the snorkel before submergence tests can proceed......
