Already see the problem.  Your sound card/chip and modem ar sharing an interrupt (10).

This will cause locks ups' and random discos.  Move the modem card to another PCI slot and check the interrupts again.

cant move modem anywhere, for it is integrated on the MoBo.

Any way around it?

***EDIT***
What about if I buy a modem to go in PCI slot and disable WinModem???

Oh the joy of integration! Lol.

Buy more 'brand' computers folks! Keeps the IT-personnel employed

Personnally if I was going to replace that modem I would go external and have a true modem.  I love my external and it gives me no problems unlike fighting the internals I have had before.

what Rocket said..

disable the built in modem and go get you an external which will use the irq of the serial port

You need to get either the modem or the sound to use a different IRQ.  Judging by the list, it doesn't appear IRQ 5 is in use.  This is the normal IRQ for a soundcard.  Depending on your MB you *may* be able to assign IRQs MANUALLY in the Bios.

Which is built in, the sound or the modem?  It looks to me like you have an AMR slot type modem.  These are generally shared with the highest numbered PCI slot.  (I.E. Pci slot 5 on my MB.)  Knowing this it is fairly simple to go into the bios and assign IRQ 5 to this PCI slot.

The other solution is to buy an external modem.  (Preferable if it is a serial, rather than USB.)

Right click on the my computer icon, choose properties, hardware profiles, then copy and rename it to original configuration 1.

In the new profile manually set IRQs so none are shared by hardware componets then reboot, when your booting windows will stop and ask which profile you wish to use for start up.

Choose the one you created and then test for problems with the new configuration, if all is well you can then delete the original profile and rename the one you created as original configuration - otherwise you will have to choose a profile everytime you reboot.

If ya can't move the Modem, try to move the sound card.
I find that a PnP OS (WIN9X) sometimes strangles the BIOS settings and causes conflicts too.
You may try making them match by adjusting the bios first.
The bios is smarter then the OS, but sometimes in WIN98 you can also change the Configuration settings.  This feature is a Plug and Pray overide.

Sound Card is (also) integrated, so it doesn't move either.

How bout this y'all, I basically get computer freeze EVERY time I play AH, offline and on (offline takes a few minutes more to freeze).

Any ideas would be helpful...

Quiet109, as long as those 2 devices are sharing the same interrupt, you are going to have problems.
Interrupt sharing between most hardware devices will result in random lockups, and other nefarious hardware behaviours.

Is there any settings in the BIOS that would allow you to manually set the IRQ's for the hardware.  If you do not know, then contact the manufacturer of the computer and ask them.

I replied in your OT forum post.  You may want to check this program out: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/faq.html

It would allow pyro (or anyone else you want) to log into your system through Internet Explorer.  If you are on a network it is just like sitting at your home computer.  If on a modem, it's pretty slow, but still works.  Basically all you do is have the other guy type your IP adress in and then they get a login screen.  They are then in control of your system.  (Not completely, you can fight them for control of the mouse.   )  It looks really odd having your mouse move and stuff without you doing it.

Oh, I thought I'd add something.  You do have to install the vnc program on your machine ONLY.  Pyro doesn't need it.  All that he will have to do is enter you ip address in his browser followed by a :5800

(This assumes you don't have multiple computers and a router.)

Ex. 255.255.255.255:5800 would work if 255.255.255.255 was you ip address.  You will need to somehow give pyro your IP address though.  If you are on a modem, it's not constant.  A quick simple way to see what your current IP is is to fire up RW and then host a channel.  This will display your current IP address.

Yo, I called Gateway and, after some BS, the said that my pc was locking up cause it was confused (apparently 2 monitors were installed), so I got rid of one and restarted.

Wont be able to test if it worked till later on (gotta work in 20 minutes). Will see if it does it later (doubtful, though).
