Lock up solutions??
« on: December 27, 2010, 11:45:53 AM »
Hello I am back after being away from AH (off enjoying the recession with my friends) and I just d/l the latest vbersion of AH and installed it on the same machine I have flown with befor. THe game crashes after a short time 2 to 10 minutes, when this happens it just freezes and the whole system has to be rebooted. I get no error messages nothing. I have looked on hte postes and see many are having similar problems but I have not seen any solutions posted. As I have been away and am not aware of changes that have occured recently I would like to know if this is a new issue or one that has been going on for some time.

Also to note I have only done off line play so far and haven't even gotten my controls all set up yet....

OK I isolated the the problem down to only the vox locking up my system, sometimes it is a total lock up and I have to reboot other times I can get my mouse to move around on the frozen image but thats it I still have to reboot. I will try to run down the items mentioned in the other thread on vox crashes tonight and see what I can find. Any sugestions would be a help thx.

A dxdiag would be nice just so we know what kind of hardware we're dealing with here.

A squaddie of mine was having the same exact problem.  We decided it was a system resource issue but since he had a 10 year old computer that struggled to see frame rates in the teens at the lowest imaginable settings, we all pitched in and built him a new one.  It was one way to fix the problem!

Never did bother to figure out what the issue was in the first place...

Ok I will get that up this evening if I can. But when in offline play I am getting 60fps so system resources are not the issues I think. I am going to double/triple check my drivers and such, I may also re download and install from scratch as corrupted files seems to have been the problem for others.

You have two sound devices... one built into the motherboard.. and the other is built into your headphones (their USB connection creates their own sound drivers).  First, try going into aces high's audio settings and set EVERYTHING to the soundmax on board audio.  Hit ok or apply and whatever.. then quit out of the game.  Now unplug your headphones and reload the game.  Again, go to audio settings and make sure nothing has been changed.  If it all looks good, then quit out of the game again and reboot.

Now, plug your headphones back in and go back into aces high and reset your headphone and mic back to the Logitech set.

I've found that Aces High will sometimes do goofy things like this if it is loaded with the USB audio device unplugged, or plugged into a different USB plug.  Even though the entry LOOKS good, it's still trying to pull from a non existent sound device which can cause it to crash.

It also looks like you might have some issues with the sound drivers for both devices.  It might be worth visiting windows update to see if newer drivers are available.

Tigger29 thanks for the reply I did as you suggested but no joy. I will try and recheck my sound drivers tonight I didn't have the patience to do it last night so I flew online with no vox for a bit. :-)

Your system reports monitor max res of 1600x1200 and you are forcing 1920x1080?
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

I will have to look into that, it is a new monitor and I just set it to what windows said was compatible. Also I was not able to find any specific drivers for the monitor and will continue the search for some of those.

thanks for pionting that out to me though I will lower the res and see if it helps.
