Option to Run Game in Debug Mode
« on: January 13, 2011, 05:11:34 PM »
With players having ongoing VOX lockups then game freeze up or crash, or Video lockups then game freeze or crash. If possible coad the game so the executable can be run in a debug mode where if an ingame event happens to lock your system a dump file of your system memory will be triggered the same way a BSOD does.

Then you can zip it up and make Skuzzy's life even more misserable.......

Or the other way around is HTC creates a debug version of the game that they mail you if your problems are frequent enough.

If HTC is using programming tools like the ones I know, they would have to create a "debug version" of the executable program(s) for this to be useful.  And you would *not* want to run that under normal circumstances because it would run more slowly than a "normal version".

Plus, doesn't debugging often open the gate for security issues?

They probably will not because any useful debug version would contain symbols, which would mean that you could connect a debugger to the process and step through the code, and see every line that HTC wrote.

HTC could make a version that created lots of log files though, as a kind of debug mode, so that HTC could more easily see what is going on. That would be a possibility.
