Mini arenas for mini wars.
« on: April 18, 2011, 02:31:52 PM »
The big maps are nice for their random activity, but for those who crave orgnized battles to victory, their size is a handicap. The big maps are more like random activity with missions that provide some strategy, but the missions are one sided, meaning only one side is getting organized and strategizing. The response is a random one. Rolling bases usually involves superior numbers not superior strategy or skill.

I thought mini arenas the teams can sign out would be cool. Opposing squads or groups could open a lobby and fight it out. The maps would be semetric and have 3 or 4 bases per side. Arena rules and set up would be variable and set by the person who opens the lobby.

The benefits over MA play are that you can coordinate all players and a strategy before hand. Both teams study the map, decide on how many players, lives etc. and then make a gameplan for taking over the map and winning the game. Gameplay starts when both sides hit the READY button. Scores are local to the single event.

There could be team sign ups by posting start times and open slots just like missions. The mini wars would last an hour or two, with victory coming when one side captures all the bases.

Could even lead to mini war leagues. It's different from scenarios which are limited to a battle, that seldom includes captures or total victory.

Won't you get this when Hitech re-releases the HtoH HTC hosted arenas again?

Yes perhaps. I wasn't around for the old H2H so I don't know what it was like. I don't think I'd want an 8 man limit. I guess it depends on the number of H2H players alowed.

The way I read your post, it sounds very similar to the set up in the AVA when a good number of people are on.  Small maps, few bases, custom plane sets, etc...
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

Like that except teams would be even and have a start time. AvA is a continuous battle like MA so showing up with a bunch of friends and taking over the board may not be acceptable for the folks already in there playing.  :salute

most likely it will be a never ending furball.  when 2 opposite sides are equal then nobody will win or lose, you will just keep on furballing on which ever field the fight switches to.

toss out a challenge to the AVA regulars.  We've been known to accept them.   :devil
