Material files not working for offline skins
« on: March 28, 2011, 03:41:15 AM »
When viewing skins offline the game seems to use the material file of the default skin for that plane. I've tested this on an olive drab B-29 skin which appears shiny and a bare metal B-25H which appears matt. The material files for these same skins work fine in the skin viewer.

This bug, if it is a bug, is still present on the latest version of AH. Skins viewed in the offline game use the default skin for that aircraft's material file, not the one written for that particular skin. Can someone please confirm this so I know its not just an issue with my PC?

Hello, Greebo.

This is busa01.
Thank you for always making the great skins.

By my English capability, I may not be able to understand what you have said.
However, the problem which I have may be the same as it of you.

In off-line, material files does not work often correctly by my case.
They seem to be influenced of default res file.

When some custom skins have already downloaded, they have conflict.
Depending on the sub folder number of a skin, material files may not work correctly.

Is this information help to you?

Thank you for reading my poor English.

Hi Busa,

Thank you for the reply, it was very helpful and your English is good.

I did not have this problem a few versions ago, skins that worked fine offline then now do not display properly. However I used to run two copies of AH, one for skinning and one for online play. This was because AH used to have an issue with rebuilding the cache when viewing skins offline. Now the cache issue has been fixed and I only run one copy of AH on my PC. Possibly I never noticed this problem then because my online and offline skins were kept in seperate folders. I will try going back to having offline and online AHs again and see if that fixes the problem.

Even if this does fix the problem I'd still say its a bug, please fix it HTC.

Just an update, I tried temporarily renaming my original skins folder and creating a new one with just my olive drab B-29 in it. This eliminates all the online skins in the folder as a potential source of conflict. It had no effect, the B-29 still appears shiny like the default skin.
