Ports
« on: June 28, 2011, 07:39:26 PM »
Right now ports are only offensively valuable for CVs and maybe like a Vehicle field. Also, under an attack all the defense it has is the soon to spawn CV (only if CV sunk) or the vehicles that spawns from the vehicle hangar (which is normally the first target.) A port should be able to launch floatplanes. Floatplanes like the A6M2-N, PBY, and Short Sunderland. The floatplanes should help the offensive power and possibly even the defensive power. I've seen a solitary port on an island owned by one country. There's only one damaged carrier to defend the port from the enemy. The carrier was also taking land. The country's port was very prone to an air assault from the airfields on the island. The port was unable to attempt to take any bases that can back it up besides ground. Ground vehicles are prone to both camping and air attack. Floatplanes are a piece that can help ports also become a formidable force.

just really (not so much) well hidden and worked around.

i would love the sunderland. i know people say it would quickly become a hangar queen, because of the "lack of defensive armament"...but it is relatively well armed. moreso than the catalina, though.

+1 would also help when you just capture a port to have the option to launch a floatplane to go scout for the cv or to chase a retreating CV down

and could be tacticaly used(the float plane) asuming u had at leaste 1 decent bomb 500lb or so you could have about 5-15 ppl fly to a coastal base land on the water and suddenly up and hit it out of no where(same with killing cv's/ ports) element of surprise... thats in game was prob never used like this but.. just a possiblity and possibly helping to bring supplies to cv's(just like a c47 runs them to v-base/airfeilds/tanks)

**edit**

after actaully looking into floatplanes some actaully had alot of ords which would help greatly with gv/cv killing and base surpression aswell there were some "fighter" like floatplanes to help with defence think i only saw 1 actaull floatplane fighter..

dosent stop people from flying lancasters..4 30 cal.. and 2 50 cal(600 rounds in tail turret) can hardly shoot down a bf-110-g2(large fragile plane)

Think A6M2-N.

+2 for this variant, launchable from ports.

Or even from a cruiser.
No, no, no. That molecule is caffeine.
