Problem With Video from my Phone
« on: August 06, 2011, 07:36:01 PM »
I'm trying to import video into Windows Movie Maker, but it isn't allowing me to do so. I'll hit "import" and this message pops up.

"The file C:\Users\Jake\Pictures\2011-08-06\167.3gp cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again."

Then another says something about the file being zipped, and it's not.

What should I do? (This has some conjunction to AH, because the video is of a P-51).

A second message I get is this:

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

MovieMaker doesn't support .3gp video format, but you can convert the file into a more common format like avi. A quick google search with 3gp gave e.g. this free converter. The supported video formats for MovieMaker are .asf, .avi, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm and .wmv all for which I suppose you can find a converter.
