Should I wait?
« on: November 19, 2011, 03:55:54 PM »
I've been thinking about purchasing some up grade components for my current gaming machine. That would include core i5, MB, and memory. I have everything else. Then I think if I wait until the first of the year I may be able to get a bit more for the same money. That would especially be true for hard drives.

So you folks in the know, do you have any predictions for pricing after the first of the year?

wait until the Holiday season is in full swing. every large store is going to slash they're prices or give out amazing discounts on things.

On the other hand, if you wait for the prices to sink, there will always come new and better components for the price you were already prepared to pay. Or the amazing discount is only valid to the stock items that just ran out. A computer is old right at the moment you lay it on/under your desk, so the right time to upgrade is the day you really think that you can't stand your old setup any more.

Newegg knocked 40 bucks off my wishlist items.

One final question, is there an equally good board as this for less?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130621

i5 2500k is down to 199 from 219.

Memory is down to 29.99 from 49.99.

Here's the memory, can this price be beaten with a comparable quality product.

I'm anxious to pull the plug.

Getback,  I myself have considered that board for the future upgrade paths it offers and including the new "PCI Express 3.0 x16"  slot  technology

pretty great price for it as well, and that is an awesome deal for that System Ram

I think you will be alright, hat board is sort of new, and you really shouldn't base your decision off of just those (3) reviews being shown in the feedback column ( the only good feedback left is from an actual verifyed owner of the board )......... search someother websites for some feedback if you are unsure at this moment on it.....

hope this helps

There was actually a lower price for that board at one time. Wonder if I should contact newegg to see if they can go a bit later. I like MSI boards. That price on the i5 is great and the memory price is 20 bucks lower than it was a week ago. I'm contemplating.

Dang this board is down 25 bucks and the memory is down by 20 bucks. I'm so tempted to order those two items and then wait for a price drop on the other items I need.
