If I remember right, from reading what others have posted, yes. The Map Room was in the middle of the field. You just had to deack the field and let em run.
That's my memory. You could drop troops right on the opponent's runway if you wanted.
Then again, if you go back far enough, there was a time before structural integrity was a component of the aircraft parts, so you could take a Goon at like 10k feet, dive down towards an airfield screaming at 500mph and drop your troops right on the main runway. =)
