That was not only impressive but profound.  The significance of self-aware AI is undeniable.  We can't do to them what that guy did to Kara.  In addition, the movie broaches all the major themes of AI -sex, liberty, thought-astounding.

Bravo, Sony.  Bravo.

Just what technology exactly is being demonstrated? The graphic hardware displaying it?

It cant be the software/hardware that produced it.. Japan has been making movies through CGI that are a lot more lifelike than this for a decade now. Look up Final Fantasy The Spirits Within movie to see an OLD example of it.

I would guess game engine; voice driven facial animation (the different languages part), muscle simulation, emotion simulation etc.

I agree. She talks to GD much and I'd demand a refund. No market for blow up dolls that might say "no".
