Face Track No IR
« on: June 17, 2012, 09:35:54 AM »
Anyone ever try Face Track No IR? It's a free face tracking software that mimics the functionality of trackIR via a web cam. I've been playing around with it for a bit. I can get it working ok. I think i could getting it working better if I had a better camera placement. Just wondering if anyone's had good results with it and if it's worth putting anymore effort into.

I built the head trackIR unit the was free, tried face trackIR a bit, in the end I bought a real TrackIR. While I did get the "free" versions working well they did get a hick-up now and then plus depending on when I had them up and running sometimes my computer really wasn't strong enough to add in that function.

Over all, free versions work well, but save your money and buy a TrackIR. It works much better and is worth the price if you like using head tracking. Some people don't which is why I tried the free versions so much..... just to be sure before I spent the money.

facetracknoir works ok. performance will depend on how good of a webcam you have. if you do a search in this part of the forum there is an old discussion about it. pretty sure a few people are still using it.
