The Sun - A question for the developers
« on: July 19, 2012, 10:08:14 AM »
Skuzzy and Hitech,

This is a serious question. I know people before have complained about the sun, but this is not a question relating to the introduction of sunglasses.

Before the last 2 patches (the one introducing the 410) I could fly into the sun and at least see my clipboard and surroundings. While it was a tad washed out, I could still see.

Now, when I fly into the sun, my whole screen goes white. Not only directly into the sun, but even when I fly partially to each side of it. Of course it gets better as I turn and the sun is less bright. I already know how to change headviews to block the sun, put your clipboard in front of it, etc etc.

There has not been a change in my computer ( 6year old dell XPS 720 E6700 GTX 275 Nvidia ) or monitor (Samsung 27 inch Led S27B35OH). I have tried gamma, monitor settings, graphics card setting, in game settings to no avail.

Did anything change with the sun?  It is blinding.  Is there a way in game to turn it down?  Brightness, contrast, in game details....anything? I would send you a picture but it would be all white.

If not, is there a chance that a setting can be added.  I know you can't completely turn the sun off as it's a "realistic" feature, or even dimming it as it would create an unfair advantage, but  is there a way to work something into the graphic details that might take care of the blindness?

thanks

You must hate Google's home page as it is the same color and intensity as the Sun in the game.

If you are not getting a transition from 'no Sun' to 'full Sun', then it may be the video card is running out of resources, or maybe you are using one of NVidia's newer drivers which have a number of problems with them.  Just guessing here as there is not enough information to make a qualified suggestion.

A DXDIAG output would be helpful, if you are not getting the transition.
