Italian Stuka
« on: September 29, 2012, 02:40:58 PM »
This is my skin of a Ju 87D of 207 Squadriglia of the Regia Aeronautica based on the island of Sardinia in June 1943. The RA operated Ju 87B/R Stukas over Malta, Greece and North Africa in the Med from September 1940 until the end of 1942. At this time all the surviving airframes were considered time expired and retired. In 1943 two RA groups were re-equipped with ex-LW Ju 87Ds. In July both groups were thrown against the Allied invasion fleet off Sicily, where they were decimated by Allied air supremacy and AA fire but managed to sink at least one cargo ship.

There are photos of this aircraft here.
