Tracer ratio selection
« on: January 18, 2013, 12:03:54 PM »
I'd like to have the ability to select the tracer ratio between zero and the default.

What is the current ratio ingame and does anyone know if this was done historically?

I'm guessing here, but It seems that every 3 rounds is a tracer.  Also as a guess if that's true then I think that's a somewhat a median average of historical?

Every 4 rounds is it, from what iv'e been told. In real life there were different color tracers but that's beside the point. I don't think real life pilots would load up more than or less than every 4th bullet as a tracer. Why someone would want less tracers or more is beyond me, I can see my rounds flying to the target just fine with what we have.

According to the books on the Blacksheep they worked out what was most effective through ground testing, and then some pilots also chose no tracers. I think HTC uses the Blacksheep method.  :D

You can read it yourself by going to google and searching for "blacksheep ammunition test." From the text I get that they used six incendiary for one AP and one tracer. I believe that WWII incendiary had an AP component, or more correctly it was an AP round with an incendiary component.

I am just curious as to why you think that would be an advantage over what we have.  It will help your case as it wont seem like you are just asking for the sake of asking.  and I mean your reasons for your post not anybody else's.

I am assuming that like me he too doesn't like flying with tracers off, but finds current tracers dense enough to cloud the target.
