To me all the planes in WWI fly the same and everything is cannon fodder for the DR.1.

I respectfully disagree, I've found the DR1 in a turning fight can peform quite well due to the wings. But the DVII is better in the vertical. F1 is well rounded and an easy to fly plane, and the F2 is a slightly larger, slightly slower F1 with a tailgun lol.

To me all the planes in WWI fly the same and everything is cannon fodder for the DR.1. While my computer don't run it well The Rise of Flight is a better WWI game. At least there is a performance difference between the planes. The DR.1 in our WWI arena is way to fast.

Sir, (with all due respect):

1)  They don't fly the same at all.

2)  Since your computer doesn't run it well, how would you know that "Rise of Flight" is a better game--by which metrics?  I think Rise of Flight is a fun game, but I'd never be tacky enough to push a different game on this forum...boo.

Max Speeds:
DR-1 = 103 mph (115 mph per wiki)
F-1 = 112 mph
D-VII = 120 mph (Mercedes engine); 124 mph (BMW engine)

Did a quick comparison in Game and got these results:
DR-1 = 107 IAS at SL  
F2B =  122 at SL,   110 IAS at 5K (120 G/S),

I dunno .... F2B is looking like its 15 mph faster than the DR-1 at SL, ... and both are coming up well within any reasonable engineering tolerance for comparisons to actual/reported speeds.

Personally, I enjoy the heck out of the WWI arena, but it is often tough to find a decent fight there - I suspect because it is so technically difficult to employ the planes compared to the WWII monsters.  I'd love to be able to strafe troops in trenches, whack dirigibles, and all the other things that happened in WWI, but again the capitol investment for player return probably isn't viable.

How bout we have WW1 event, I am in there some times. Lets have a special event in the world war one arena for recuritment, shoot get a commerical on the tv about it, it would be  free and open to the public, huge furball. I think it could be done

 You are correct HTC will not burn resources on the WWI arena as no great number of players us it. As for my opinion of the plane performance in Rise of flight as compared to HTC is a simple fact. The D-VII can just clime away or dive away from a DR.1 in Rise of Flight while there seems to be very little difference to me in HTC planes. While I have played World of tanks and Rise of Flight I find the over all game play of HTC far Superior to any on line game I have ever tried. HTC is the only game I have pay to play for over five years. I just don't happen to like the modeling of their WWI planes.

You have piqued my curiosity (in a good way) as to the question of accuracy of the flight models ... Sadly I can't jump into either a DR.1, nor a D-VII in real life to compare climb data (besides, it's raining here in Seattle), but I can go to acknowledged expert sources for answers.

- NOTE: I’ve also added my Observed/Recorded data from AH II…I used time from Throttles-Forward.  ¼ bag of fuel.   DR.1 fuel expired at 15.5 minutes and 3809 meters (12,500’) in my testing.   I do not know if the other sources used Throttles forward, or Weight off Wheels as their Zero point.

Conclusion:
In all cases, AH II climb performace was under that of NASA’s testing , but not by a lot (also remember, I used “Auto Climb” and just let it go.  I did not try to max perform the climb data in any way via trim or ‘bunting’, or hanging on the props).

= AHII’s Performance most closely matched that observed by Grosz for the DR.1.
= Different Pilots, different Props, different techniques will always yield differing results ... I went with the Google Glasses-wearing, pocket
Protector clad geeks at NASA for my baseline

= DR.1 simply outclimbs the D-VII according to every credible source (that I found)
= Many historical accounts mention DR.1’s performance advantages in climb and turn, D-VII was a better machine at generating top speed.

Lastly, this is a "Time to climb" comparison ... Not to be confused with a zoom climb comparison.

We need new planes and a point besides pure dog fighting would be nice to attract more people.
