Map Change also Equals Year Change.
« on: July 11, 2013, 12:53:51 PM »
Just kicking an idea around.  EW and MW get minimal use with the player numbers we have .  How about if there was only one MA, and when the maps rotate, it also rotates EW, MW, LW.

Would players be unhappy that they can't up a  D Pony?

Would flying a limited set spark some more interest in trying new planes?

Is it too much of a change for guys that work on different arena scores?

Would it help or hurt numbers?

Sorry, but rolling planesets or otherwise artifically limiting what players can fly is rarely a good thing.

you're asking for a rolling plane set...and the resounding answer from those who frequent the forums will be a huge NO, with various reasons as to why.

it's the main reason there are separate arenas...ww1, early war, mid war, late war.

The thought is occasionally mulled over to fight a war, beginning to end, both theaters alternating, in the AvA from time to time. Or, at least it was when I was a more active participant then CM volunteer there.

Why didn't I search "Rolling Plane Set?"  :headscratch:

Now that I did, wow, not popular.

It was tried once in WB's many many years ago.  The resounding hatred for it echoes down to this day.  It's one of those ideas that looks good on paper but just isn't liked in practice.

The reason I normally fly late war is that I like to fly a particular plane, which isn't available except in late war.  Every person is different, but I like the experience of flying my favorite plane.   :airplane:

I love flying spit 8's and ponies.  I fly some others as my squadies asked me to, but not really my cup of tea.  I dont really fly to get "skill" or "score" and I get the feeling most of the guys do the same.

The wish you have already exists in AvA... However, only a small fraction of people even try AvA...

I believe Warbirds did something along these lines where the progression of a month equated to going from early war to late war.  It was the single biggest thing I hated about that game.  That and there was no ability to rearm. (rearming is hugely important to me in AH)
