TrackIR really is one of those things that you get if you REALLY want it. I remember when I switched from hat switch views to TrackIR I was like "Woah! This is weird!" Going from something thats a foward view, left foward view, left view, etc. to something that lets you see everything in between made me a little dizzy at first, but I knew I wanted trackIR because I liked the realistic feel of being "in the cockpit". I was pretty bad at flying again at first since I wasn't used to flying with TrackIR yet, but after sticking to it for a while, getting the profile just the way I want it, and just practicing to look around with my head instead of a hat switch I got used to it and now I just can not fly at all without it (I've tried, I bailed 30 seconds into the flight I was so unhappy without trackIR).

For me, I think it took me a good 2-3 months of flying with TrackIR to finally get the hang of it, so it's not something you're going to plug in and suddenly your SA is going to become 10 times better.

It's just not for everyone. I've met people in game from both sides of the fence. Some love their hat switch/key pad, some love their TrackIR. Others have tried TrackIR and just didn't like it or couldn't get used to it, or stuck with it and learned to love it.

I have TrackIR and I really enjoy it for turn fighting, it adds a whole new level of immersion that cannot be compared to a hat switch. I have not used mine recently but I might have to start again..

Also, I think TrackIR will add a very nice effect for your videos, player produced videos using TrackIR are some of the most fun to watch.

I agree BluBerry, when I watched some of the TrackIR videos online, I could get a better sense of where the pilot's attention was in his SA but also, what the next move would be in relation to the enemy.

Thanks for the video's Vudu!!!   :rock    Love the joystick btw, too bad i can't get mine to work as well as yours yet...
You must have the special edition!  :joystick: :joystick: :joystick: :joystick: :joystick:

I found I made much quicker advances in the TrackIr when I turned off the Roll and Y Z but it still took time.  You know when you are there when the mind is convinced you are looking down the length of the right wing when you turn your head to the right as an example.   You have no concept your eyes are focused on the monitor.

If TrackIr broke, I would be in deeep trouble.

Good video on he second one.  For some reason I could not get the first one up.

Man, kids today have it too easy, back in my day I had to walk 10 miles to school, knee deep in snow, uphill both ways....  Hey get off my lawn!!!!   :devil

This is some good stuff, bathrobe as you say TIR isn't for everyone but it's a great options if you can get used to it. I've never used TIR but lately I've considered getting a setup.

Only problem I see with it is what to do with all those extra buttons I'll have!!! :lol

I use TrackIR and absolutely love it. You do have to spend some time tweaking it though and learning how to use it so it does take some patients. Now I cannot handle flying without it. I have two HAT switches on my Joystick, one still has the default views assigned to it for when looking around in exterior views and the other has things like CheckSix, Clipboard, auto climb, etc bound to it. My Third HAT on my throttle control has flaps and elevator trim set to it. I keep a button on my throttle set to recenter my TrackIR in the event that my sitting position relative to my monitor changes.

I turned off my Forward/Backword detection on my Track IR and seriously toned down the Up/Down axes, both of those screw up my aim when I have to look around a lot and then try to look forward and Aim for a shot (it can shift your view too far down in the cockpit or zoomed in weird ways unless you get the settings just right).
