I used to have this system back in 2000 when I first was flying this game, I can't for the life of me remember who manufactured it, but it was wood and high quality stuff. It was an inverted angled U shape for the base, about 4 feet wide, and had 3 foot high or so towers, like satellite home theater speaker towers sort of, one on each side, and a center one. You could mount your HOTAS on any of the three, and pick from F16 to F15 style more or less. The down side was 2 things IMO, you had to sit a little further back from your desk/screen because of it, and unless you mounted the keyboard on one of the towers, it was harder to reach it.
Also, this applies to other setups too - my elbows were floating in limbo more or less. Look at Fugitive's set up for example, I know it is a popular way to go, and similar to that setup I'm talking about - your forearm and elbow are just hanging in space. Now what I do, is use the F16 style, with the stick up about 2/3 the way of my desk on both sides, so my elbow and part of my forearm are resting and stable on the desk surface. I find this makes me a lot more accurate, and comfortable after long hours of flying. I've been doing it this way for 14 years now after another sim pilot showed it to me.
