This Week in the AvA...

The mosquito was a uniquely useful aircraft to RAF bomber command and one of the iconic aircraft of WWII. Generally Mosquito daylight raids were low-level attacks - sneaking under radar and relying on speed and surprise to avoid flak and outpace German fighters. They mounted raids against radio factories, metal foundries, locomotive works, Gestapo headquarters in Denmark and the Amiens prison freeing resistance member’s just days before they were to be executed. Truly no target in Europe was safe from the “Wooden Wonder”.
