Rather than airdropping a tank, you could (historically accurate) include a towed glider with a tank (M-22 locust) inside.  Pilot of the glider would select locust as cargo, and when the aircraft comes to a complete stop, replace the glider with the M-22.

I like the idea of gliders towed behind C-47s. The player would fly the c-47 and the glider would function essentially as a drone behind the goon. The player could then switch to the glider position for release. If it was solely operated by one player, the goon would continue on level for a time before blowing up once it gets out of drone distance, or a second player could join as a glider pilot while the original player continues on with the goon. Once the glider lands, the player could simply let troops out or commandeer a small vehicle held within the glider's cargo bay.

I suppose the benefit of this would be a very short required landing zone, maybe a short icon range due to it not having a noisy engine.

I suggested Horsa's some time ago.  Would love to sneak one of those in to a base capture.

Doable via the use of towed gliders.

Already you can drop gear ( on the right approach) and cause a drone to land at an airfield without you.

But actually it would be more fun if the player towed the glider to the release point..... After release the tow plane returns under AI. The player then flies the glider in and lands it, where upon he can then access the vehicle.

This could be used to put jeeps and artillery behind enemy lines.
