« on: February 18, 2015, 02:00:28 PM »
I am not understanding how to use this software to program my joystick.  Does anyone know how to use it and explain it to a dunce like me.

IMO if the manual doesn't help, start on page 12, you're probably better off just programming everything in Aces High. You don't really need TARGET for anything. I only run it to adjust the LED light levels then I exit it.

Did you try the stock configuration for DCS FC2 F-15? Save it under a different name then change anything you don't like in it.

You're likely to get better advice for FC3 in the DCS forums.  :aok

It is very easy to setup using the graphic interface.  It is very powerful.  Now the good news.  As long as you do not start Target before you start AH will use your in-gane AH setting.  The point is you can take your time to learn how to use the software and not mess with your settings.

Download the manual and note there are several good examples.

In just a short amount of time, you will be an expert.

TARGET is worth learning. Great for mapping trim to HAT switch and quadrupling the inputs of all the buttons negating the need to use the keyboard. Nice to be able to point your nose  at a target then push a button that will auto-angle, delay, stabilize then fire all rockets, drop all bombs and automatically release auto-angle and then you just manually jinx away(if you're low) from ack on ship and hanger killing sorties with the press of a single button. if you use that method your hanger and ship kills rate will double if you currently have problems hitting them.

With TARGET your hands never need to leave the joystick except to use chat.

Great also for multiple joystick configs for different aircraft/vehicles. Using a $25 Thrustmaster T16000m it will takes the place of dual throttle for like for p38s, A20. Easily have variable rudder/aileron/elevator inputs rates for planes with small or larger control surfaces ect. Set up a basic BnZ config and turn fighter config. so the stick always feels the same with the amount of physical input you use. It's also easier on the joystick physically. You can take your basic TARGET config and modify them with cut and paste clicking making the creation of new configs a snap.

If you can put together one of them Chinese import tricycles with the so called instructions and missing nut or bolt or two you can learn TARGET in an hour or so.

Not disagreeing about target but I want to point out that you can have 4 functions per button just using the AH setup.

AH button assignment is very flexible with the 4 modes.  I have used them all four.

Target can actually have 6 functions per button.

Some of the things you can do with TARGET.
1. Delay the button function after press.
2. Assign a function for the press and one for the release.
3. Although not practical for every button you can have each press of the button go through a sequence button assignment and the sequence can be as long as you want.
4.  You can have as many keystrokes sequenced assigned as you want to one button punch. An example.

The cougar panels work well with this software.

One of the surprising features of the Warthog is that you can have 2 different commands depending on how long you hold a button down. I don't know how to program that, it's one of the default features using the Warthog with DCS A-10C.

The Cougar also lets you use up/middle/down with in/out for 6 combinations but I could never keep track of that many.  :lol
