That looks more like a camped spawn to me.

Remarkable photo!  First time I ever saw a snub-nose Tiger II.

Most likely it was demo'd by the crew.  Drain the oil on the recoil mechanism and pull the trigger.  Gun goes all the way back, and sometimes out the back of the turret.

There appears to be a Sherm foreground. I'm assuming it was a copy sent for use by the Red Army, since the other users of that tanks weren't within miles of the site at the time the battle occurred.

Lots of nice T-34 wreckage as well... I love to see Soviet Tanks in this state.

Didn't some test Tiger II tanks carry a short barreled 105mm gun (10.5 cm KwK L/68)?  Maybe that Tiger II was one of the tanks that had the modified Krupp turret with the short 105mm.

All tanks except the T2 seems to have their guns removed, the T2 migh just have got its gun barrel cutted.

It was only a proposal, no Tiger II ever carried one.
Besides, L/68 would have meant an even longer gun than the 88 L/71. It's not "short" at all.
