Purple Heart for Aces High Fingers?
« on: October 25, 2001, 04:32:00 PM »
This may sound weird or wimpish, but do any of you notice your finger tips cracking because of too much Aces High?  My right thumb and fore finger, plus left forefinger, are developing a chronic splitting and cracking, and it appears the cause is the joystick and keyboard.

The right thumb uses the pointy hat continuously as well as the top four buttoms, and the right finger uses the trigger.  The left finger does most of the keyboard punching.

Does this qualify for an Aces High Purple Heart?  A few perk points?  Some insurance deductions?

Seriously, I often have to wear bandaids on these combat digits, and various creams seem to be fighting a losing battle to retain digital suppleness.

Any of you have this problem and any solutions, other than playing AH only every other month between wounds?

Seems you have only played 24 hours this month, so I think we need to look elsewhere for a cause... Are you keeping them in your backside when you aren't playing?  That could be the problem... or are you a big sissy?  I could see something like this happening to a big sissy.  Or it could be that you are from Virginia... Virginians are notoriously soft.

EDIT:  ;)

Kratzer, thanks for the insight.  Since you've already flown 30 hours this month and apparently have no symptoms, clearly my digits are a North American aberration.

Virginians soft and posterially oriented?  I think not.  However, I will remind my P-47 chauffeur to refrain from jinking so much since I may inadvertently be reverting to thumbsucking from anxiety about that elusive 205.  Kindly fly straight and level next time, and don't fret about your 6.  ;)

Talk to Dern and see if he's had any problems... I think he's up to about 150 hours.
