Scorched earth has merit.  But it would require huge numbers. 

I like it.

I like the idea, but it would be misused to the point of ruining the game. It's kindergarten logic to imagine how and why.

Give people the ability to destroy objects at their own fields and you'll see people switching sides/being jerks and blowing up ammo bunkers and barracks everywhere.

Are you saying you blow stuff up before the base falls but you can still use it? Then when the base falls the stuff doesn't work?

I would imagine similar to upping a jeep or pilot and placing satchel charges next to ord bunkers ect that would detonate when the base falls.
