Monday Night Madness
« on: November 02, 2016, 09:01:14 PM »
Jaeger's already figured this one out but I wanted to bring it up anyways. With the removal of the early and mid-war main arenas in the latest version of AH, I think there's enough interest in the community that we should be able to get a group of players together for one or two hours once a week to fly the mid-war rides. It worked pretty well the last time around. With that said, here are a few of my thoughts about the latest iteration of MNM:
Lets keep the rules to a minimum and add a little more realism. Meaning no alt limits in the form of 100mph+ updrafts at 10k, no unlimited ammo or field ack lethality greater than the "Open Melee" main arena, and no perked planes - like the Typhoon. Let's keep it simple and straight forward, basically the mid-war main without heavy bombers, eny and with FSO icon ranges. Can't remember if we had an Allied / Axis split or not; I'm fine with it either way.

I would be all for it.

Of course I want axis/allied split and no icons.

If icons are forced on, tben all planes all sides, FSO icons.

Hey Dawger  :salute
You should check out staff night on Tuesday in the AvA. No enemy icons and reduced icons for friendlies. It's a decent compromise between the two sides of the icons debate.
We're trying to provide some variety in the setups we offer to AH players so most people could find at least one offering each week that they would be interested in.

My only issue with those settings is friendly icons draw your eye in a swirling multiple aircraft fight.

It would be awesome if someone would FINALLY code a minimum icons range as well as a maximum. Say on at 3.0 and OFF again at 1.0

That would be a compromise I could live with.

For the benefit of anyone who may have missed it, I believe he's referring to the cartoon post that HTC removed, and with good reason. It's a very strange world out there.

Back on topic; a more sophisticated icon system would be a great addition to the game. But for now we work with what's available and choose default settings that appeal to many players but still create something a little different than the main. Fortunately Hitech has provided us with the "toggle icons" function, which allows anyone to fly with no icons whenever they choose.

The mid-war plane set offers a decent chance of a balanced Axis/Allied split IMO. I wondering if most of the AvA player base would prefer a split or all planes for all sides setup?

The Tuesday night fights work great Dawger. The icons do not draw your view off the enemy targets at all.

I had a ball last week in there.

I will certainly try to be there.

I am an AvA guy from way back...All the way back to HA in WB.

And I think GV's are the  ultimate downfall of WWII Aviation MMOG.............

So if no GVs then I am in.

the AVA is both a aircraft and gv arena. all aspects of the game are used. whether you choose to participate in a particular aspect of it, is you choice. we are trying to
rebuild the ava with some really fun and  interesting stuff. Some things that some may like, and others might not like. that being said we are trying to appeal to everyone as much
as possible. obviously we cant appeal to everyone.

Heres our tentative setup schedule: Monday night madness, Tuesday night AVA staff night, Thursday night tank nights, Saturday night AVA wars.
we might do some other stuff also, but for now, this is it.

our standard is 3k friendly icons, and no enemy icons. That is not set in stone, but is up to the Staffer running the show that particular night. we try to appease everyone,
but obviously cant, so we do the best we can. usually if you ask, in the AVA, your wish is granted, assuming its not something that cant be done.

we here to serve and to please. help us make the AVA a fun place to be!
