Oh, please, of course he was trying to get around the swear filter. Do you really think he meant things were going to the South Hero Land Trust?

Eurastus, as a person of identical age, allow me to say that you aren't acting yours.

- Oldman

There is no swear filter.  I've used the same text many times.  The moderator is a person, and "getting around" a supposed filter is not a crime unless you can point me to it in the rules.  if you can find any rules.  It's a well defined line --- you either type a profanity, or you do not.  There's no middle ground.  As far as acting my age, try walking my shoes and get muted repeatedly with ever-increasing time penalties when you've committed absolutely no offense. Then, let's see how you feel?  Shucks, someone who's unaffected by it all might even drop in to tell you you should act your age.  It's just a game, but anyone should be able to play it without the features being arbitrarily crippled because of an illiterate moderator.  Anyone with a teaspoon of common sense knows that.  You pay the fee and you play expecting to be left alone unless you treat someone in a manner you wouldn't want to be treated.

Although rule #6 is for the forums.
How ever I seem to recall this issue before in game.

Can't be a bot.  He's too self-aware and reactionary.  The bots don't have emotions or an inflated sense of "always right" ego.  One day it might be when bots don't finish grade school and decide its someone else's fault. Bots also don't have to have the last say even when they are right; certainly not when dead wrong.

~snip~

The issue was use of the single word itself.  I forget the exact context even though it's in the ALT-R saved file.  Something on the order of "things are going to SHLT."[/u]  Of course people can get the meaning of that phrase, UNLESS they are unfamiliar with it.  The unfamiliar have not had their tender ears offended, while the initiated know as much as I do.  And measures against profanity are not for the benefit of the initiated, but for the naive.  I did nothing to breach that trust.

I understand the importance of rules.  Also important is that both sides know and respect the rules.  If I've broken a rule, please point it out for me and I'll apologize and do better. If on the other hand, then I'm owed an apology.

from your own posting above you show yourself as trying to get around the profanity filter by using "masked profanity" which has never been allowed in Aces High, and explain or use the excuse of that the unfamiliar have not had their tender ears offended

you knew that the correct spelling would not pass the profanity filter built into the game, so your tried to circumvent it by using masked profanity and then came here and told on your own self without ever anyone needing to see a film

Hope this helps explain it clearly to you, which being here yourself for over 4 years, you already knew this, one would think

there is 1,000's of threads like this on these forums regarding such things, as well as HiTech and Skuzzy repeatedly telling all of us players that if any of us receive a warning we should abide by it and not confront the MODs. If any of us playing feel like we have been wronged, Hitech and Skuzzy has repeatedly for 16 years asked the players to contact them at HTC directly or through support@hitechcreations.com

Hope this helps

I'll give IN

1. Yes at times the unseen, ever-present, mystical moderators are heavy handed from what I've gleened from the boards (not my own experience as a newer player)

2. In most instances of cheekiness, the person getting muted (see moderated) pushes the envelope, and/or attempts to directly communicate with the moderator. (has that ever turned into a good situation!?)

3. In ALL the cases I've seen, both ambiguous and rock to the face blunt, attempting to discuss further with a moderator results in much worst punishment than simply taking your mute time-out..

4. In the above point, the part that frustrates players the most, seems to be those times they aren't sure what they did wrong. <--- if we could just have some form of copy & paste in the message that would help the muted player know what to avoid, i think it might help?...  example  "player X muted for 120minutes; Profanity or profanity attempt: "things are going to SHLT." "    "Player x muted for 10minutes; Attempting to contact Moderator"....

Just an observation on a topic which can be heated... especially those that feel they got short-changed...

IMHO - The OP should have taken his lumps the first muting, not attempted to clarify at the time in-game, and brought it to the boards for clarification on his actions. His first muting was warranted, the second one seems to be only because he didn't like getting his wrist slapped and wouldn't keep quiet. . .

I really do not care for these public types of accusations.  It is so much simpler if you just contact us, to start with, and let us take care of it.  Think about it.  What advantage is there for HTC to allow anyone to be abused in the game, whether it be a moderator, or another player?  Just think about that.

Now, to the matter at hand.

You said: Yeah, well I can't fly worth a shlt; much less "ho"
To that, the moderator issued the following warning: Please watch your language, thank you.
You responded: I just got a message to "watch my language" and I used no profanity.  Whoever sent that msg stand up now
I want a word with you about how you flunked grade school and cannot spell.,
Worth an SHLT

The moderator then muted you for 10 minutes as per their guidelines.

After the mute expired, you said: Just muted by "moderator" too illiterate to spell the most common petty vulgarity in the English language.
The moderator then muted you for 20 minutes.

After the mute expired, you said: Moderator, you can drop your hiding and talk to me and we can handle it that way.   Otherwise................
I'm writing and calling.   I happened to have all this recorded.

The moderator muted you for 120 minutes.

There were a couple of minor things said before the last mute I left out.

Regardless of the claim you were using an acronym, which reads very as very unlikely.  No reasonable person is ever going to read that as an acronym, simply due to the fact that 1) it does not make any sense, 2) you failed to capitalize it, and 3) even as an acronym it is very localized meaning most people, outside of Vermont, never heard of it.  To most people this is simply going to be read as masked profanity.

Had you simply let it go after the initial warning, then that is where it would have ended.  If you have an issue with a moderator, your recourse is to bring it to us at HTC.  We will handle it.  It is in our and your best interests for us to do so.
