Anyone playing SH5 still?
« on: December 07, 2016, 07:50:33 AM »
If so please let me know.

I need some help with getting torpedoes to hit moving ships.  I don't want to get into all kinds of math computations or geometry.  I just want to assume my crew can do all that and play easy mode.

But even on the easiest mode I can't hit squat.

What the heck is the simplest way to get the fish on target?

Don't forget to arm your torps. :)

They are armed, just not hitting anything.
 :)
I found an article on Subsim that will probably help but it still looks like more work than it should be on easy mode.

I will give it a try next time.

Hey Curvy, our new Chocolate lab had pulled out a book on the lower part of our book case and was making fine mince meat out of it when I caught her (Even though she has a thousand chew toys around, she likes books at 12 weeks old)

The book was VMF-323 Death Rattlers.  :airplane: :aok

The good old days.  :)

I found the info on SH5 I needed.  Subsim and youtube were my friends.

I bought SHV but never played it, I have III and IV modded out, that should do it for me.

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

SHIV never sparked any interest for me.  I like the Atlantic theatre.  I played SH3 a lot but figured I would stick with the latest.

Almost bought the full pack but figured I was simply scratching an itch to play a sub sim and I will probably get bored of it again quickly.

I actually considered buying a new PC as my last computer was a Mac and I can't play most of the games I like without going through a whole pile of effort - like partitioning the drives etc.  But my son suggested I try to load it on my laptop and download the game from Steam.  Did that and it works great.  $40 instead of a chunk of change.

Yeah,  I bought the pack on Steam.

I read some about it and it appears that it is not as moddable as the III and IV. But the combo pack made it super cheap so I bought anyway. Like all ubisoft games,  I heard it was pretty bad at release.

I recently read that a company in Europe is developing a new Sub game based on British boats with full sub functionality like SHV. Should be neat and something new.

Man I had a blast last night playing SH5.  I ended up doing a port raid on the east coast of the UK and to my surprise found it full of troop transports.  16,000 tonnes + each.  I have like 90,000 tonnes in total now, but that includes a few smaller ships I took down when they were running alone out at sea.

Enjoy it before 1944  :old: :aok

The fun/satisfaction for me is the math involved in hitting stuff ... which is actually very simple stuff once you understand it. Overwise it would be like playing Aces High with guided missiles.
Dat jugs bro.

Terror flieger since 1941.

I recall Dickey Bird (who flew string bags off the Ark Royal and later flew TBMs) at the Indy con asking if you simply push a button and your engine turns on in AH.  When he was told "Yes" he laughed and said "You are missing a BUNCH of stuff".
