My Voice Distorted in Vox

When I speak to other players the complain that my voice is distorted, breaks up and fades, I have no problem listening to others or with game sounds. I have tried a variety of voice settings in the game with mic DB boos enabled and disabled and various volume settings while listening to my own voice. If a speak a sentence that lasts about 15 sec the first few words are clear then my transmission begins to break up and the volume drops until it's just a bunch of unintelligible sounds. I've tried 3 different microphones with no noticeable difference. If I records myself using the windows voice recorder it sounds fine. I have a sounblaster Z card.

Any ideas on what my problem may be?

VOX comms depend on the UDP protocol.  If your connection is suffering any type of packet loss or bit errors, it will impact VOX as once an error happens with a UDP packet it is lost forever.

If you are over a wireless connection it can happen, or if your router has been running for a long time without a power cycle, it can happen.

Why would it just effect my transmissions and not what I receive?  I'm wired but my router hasn't been power cycled for months. I'll give that a try.

The sending and the receiving network path are different.  It is quite possible to have packet loss issues in one or the other directions, or both.

There are other things which can impact it, but I assumed it as working at one time.  If it has never worked, then you could be looking at impedance mismatches with the microphone and recording port, assuming it is connected to a sound card.

Could be the recording gain is too high causing distortion.

If you are recording through the USB port and have another high data usage device connected to the USB bus, it could be interfering with the microphone.
