Mic Not Working In Win7 - Crap!!!
« on: April 01, 2017, 08:00:03 PM »
Well crap in a can. I have not having very good luck with this new build.

I find out tonight that I can't get the mic to work. Win7 isn't recognizing it so it won't work in the game either.

I got sound through the headset, but the stinking mic just flat out refuses to cooperate.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,
Vance

What type of headset/mic?  USB?  Sound card?  Did you install the sound card drivers?

Skuzzy, all I have right now is a cheap headset that plugs in with 3.5mm(?) plugs. The sound card is on board and I think I got it more or less working, but the mic volume is really low. I could well be the cheap headset. I am having the same problem with the mic volume being super low when I go into Win7 and set up the mic there.

May be time for a better headset?

Maybe USB instead of the old standard plugs?

Thanks,
Vance

if you got it working you can bump it up in the windows "sound properties" as well as once in the game you can add the boost and run up the slider there.

Yepp, in Windows sound properties, or in the Control Panel you might find Realtek Control Panel, that's quite common for motherboard audio. Set the Mic Gain/Boost to at least +20%.

When in game, go to Options/Preferences/Voice and set the microphone volume slider to full in order to activate the gain conrol, both automatic and manual.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

I have tried that. I have run the mic volume as well as the boost to 100% and that didn't really do any good.

I think I tried this as well, but I will go back to both Windows and the game and make sure that mic volume and boost gain are both set to 100% and see what happens.

Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate it.
