Let's have some fun, lets fight, lets do our best, lets perform our assigned mission then giggle like fools because win or lose FSO's are fun.

Yep.  Climb to 30k+ and then dive down to your intercept altitude and you will be going faster than if you just cruise along at your best performance altitude.  It's really easy to descend when your enemy is below you........climbing to a higher faster enemy.........not so much.

Come on allies. There are plenty of times you gents have the better performance planes.  Let's have some fun, lets fight, lets do our best, lets perform our assigned mission then giggle like fools because win or lose FSO's are fun.

But that doesnt mean you fly at 25K instead of 30K....better to have the extra altitude to play with then be at your performance altitude.

So we fly at 30k and the 109s fly right past us without engaging just like before. I understand the point you are trying to make, but if the 109s don't engage it's a moot point. And I have had many, many FSOs were I am in a crap ride, I still fly it to the best of my ability. It's not a complaint, the axis did their job by ignoring the escorts until the bombers were dead.

I do not care to get into sharing my thoughts on how someone should have done it better, but there is no such thing as a non-win situation in my book.  If fighters come in high and ignore you.  Come in high or higher and jump them, or follow them around until they lose they position they want to hang onto so dearly.  There are always options.  I have flown this fight on both sides numerous times with these rides and it can be won by either side.  Now see you all up there and you should expect a fight!

CONCUR!   We all fight your best fight...accomplish your assigned missions/tasks to the best of your abilities...at some point during the evening, take a second to imagine what the warriors on both sides were going through as they faced similar situations (and give them all a quick toast), and most certainly enjoy the camaraderie and teamwork of your fellow friends (and Foes alike)!!

As to the environmental factors discussions:  Agree!  and if we could, I'd LOVE to see cloud layers all over the place ... however, it IS a game, and there are certain factors that (like it or not), can't be replicated exactly.

We are all doing our best.

Enjoy it!

See you all in the not so friendly skies!

PS  I'd ask that folks lay off the CMs that devote their time to creating and running these set ups for us ALL.  Not to say you shouldn't make positive suggestions, but complaining really serves no good purpose does it?

PPS  And here is a simple challenge, IF you truly believe you can do it better...why not volunteer to do so??? :aok

Thank you Rodent.  And Thank You all for your support and comments.  As CM's we monitor the comments and try to improve the event.  Every little thing matters.  As pointed out, this event was originally ran ( a few months ago) with German 110c's and American B-25's active.  Your comments about the weather are fair.  We are constantly trying to improve the maps in the new version of the game.  So much so that in Frame 2 we got our map makers to "unstick" the two grounded CVs and add Ack guns around Paris and London (the later is not in play for this event but in the future?)  As to planes, I must be missing some subtle points because the Spit 5 is a fair match for the 109F.  The Bostons are very fast. Personally, I have had Spits pass overhead for Frames 1 & 2.  We were in 109E's and I would prefer the Spit 5 any day.  When they passed overhead, if I would have had a lump of coal I could have passed a diamond.  But the point you make is well founded, we are all volunteers and we are trying to make each frame better than the last.  Is it Friday yet?

Ida know and I'm not trying to bait here but can a Boston trio realistically score 30+ points?  If not, why?
I get really really tired of selective realism disguised as a desire to make bombers easier to kill.

With some work yes, but conditions have to be perfect, with fighters tangled up and a good run on the target.

It's only my 2nd setup that I've designed/ran. I'm still trying to figure out how to score my events as equally as possible and it's not easy believe me. I want setups to be challenging, but fun as well. It's a learning process for me, I'm in the stage of Advanced CM Training if that's what we'd call it. I'm doing my best to make sure you guys are having fun, but are also being challenged.

I know my weaknesses and one of those at the moment is designing a good balanced score  :salute

BFoot old mate, getting scoring right is about the hardest thing a designer has to face.

This setup is pretty good.

The scoring will be the only problem here.  Try doing the sums with the Bostons worth about 5 points and see how it looks.
The problem you have presently is that an Allied CO can score more points by keeping his Bostons out of the battle.  That sort of thing causes comment!  :)

we flew our 109's at 34k and I told my guys to ignore spits, we can kill them anytime. we want bombers. we got our wish. we did fly past 3 very large groups of spits, but bombers are worth more points and are less work from my standpoint.
