Hmmmmm...

Interesting interview of a German Flak gunner on TV last night. His battery was hit by a Mossie, heres some interesting statements he made:

- The mossie was the only buff that made it to 30k (late Nov 1944) over targets
- This was out of range of the 88s (I notice all the German vets call everything by centimeters, ie 8.8, 2 (for 20mm).
- The mossie scored direct hits on the flak batteries radar and barracks, first pass from 30k

Some cool things they showed
- long range acoustic sensors that could pick up buffs taking off from England
- close range acoustic sensors used to guide searchlights (included a correctional computer for sound delay) onto buffs at night
- operations of the computational rangefinders for the 88 batteries

AND the coolest thing - the flak looked JUST like the stuff in AH. Those guys in World War II got their flak model just right <G>

Thanks for posting that, there seems to be naysayers about AH radar, indeed this radar seems to be historically correct, minus the dots near airfield.  Then again, one ccould say that observers could easily plot an A/C in clear skys and thus give airfields an accurate 'dot' indictcation on where the enema is!
