VOX quit working
« on: May 27, 2017, 11:32:06 PM »
I haven't played much in the last couple of months, but when I do my range vox doesn't work. Was working perfect before this. I can hear myself if I tune to myself in Radio 5. Haven't talked to anyone else on Radio 5.
Tried using Resetv, but that didn't change anything. Any ideas whats going on? Running DX9 ver.

My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Check the tangent settings for vox. The setting may have corrupted or, if you had remapped it, changed back to default.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

If you can hear yourself echoed back, then VOX is working.

Text someone in the game and have them tune to the same VOX frequency, then go to the same field and do a radio check.

My vox just stopped working in mid flight.  I tried resetv to no avail.  I tried  tuning to myself on channel V and only got a beep. I also tried talking to fellow player on range & he only got beep.  I did a hard reboot of computer and logged into game and vox still does not work.  What is tangent setting and how do I check.

Wizer, since you can reproduce beeps your issue doesn't sound like a tangent problem. Check your Clipboard>Options>Preferences>Game Sounds: Microphone. It might have changed to something you don't use. That it happened in flight leads me to suspect you're using a USB microphone/headset which had reset itself because of lack of USB resources.

After seeing you have the right microphone chosen, also go to Clipboard>Options>Preferences>Voice and pull the Microphone Volume slider to max. That will enable the automatic and/or manual Boost setting below it.

By "tangent" I meant the push-to-speak button, I mistranslated the word. Anyhow, Options>Controls>Map Keys/Controllers: Global>Voice Transmit Range/Channel is where you can adjust it.

Thanks for the quick response.  I found the problem.   My Platronics Gamecom USB headset have an on/off switch for the microphone that for some unknown reason shut off.
