Inexplicable Frame Rate Plummet
« on: February 24, 2018, 08:27:37 PM »
After not having played for a couple of days I logged on only to find my FR's below any hope of playing the game. I took off from a field with three squaddies and was getting 9-12 fps. I've taken off like that with a dozen people and not had a single issue.

Nothing's really changed with my computer. I did install Malewarebytes and HitManPro, but disabled them, but that didn't help. In fact I ran MSCONFIG and disabled everything that wasn't Microsoft, (except my NVidia) and it didn't help.

Here's my DXDIAG (Had to delete much info to stay below the 12,000 character threshold):

It's likely one or both of the new anti-virus programs. Try removing them completely from your PC. You may have a restore point just prior to the installation.

I'm not sure how Computer or OS technical you are, but it is better to use "services.msc" instead of messing in "MSConfig" when enabling/disabling stuff...

www.BlackViper.com has some very good info on tweaking/cleaning up Windows 7, windows 8.0, windows 8.1 & 8.1 Pro and Windows 10 ....

Your pagefile is extremely high for a Windows 7 OS..... did you do your DXDIAG report from a fresh reboot of the computer or had it been running awhile ?  if you don't do the DXDIAG Report right after a fresh boot up of he computer, it will give you false readings somewhat..... regarding the DXDIAG Report....

I would suggest that you go back to "MSConfig" and restore it back to the way it was before you did any messing around in it, then go from there.....

Hope This Helps

IMO Msconfig is a valid way for testing if some startup process is causing issues.

What concerns me more is the two anti-xxx programs. HitmanPro says it works alongside with other shields, but Malwarebytes doesn't. The question is, did you have something else installed before? And if you had, did you get rid of it first? And if you did, how did you do it?

BTW you don't have to worry about any character limits if you send the DxDiag output as an attachment using the [ + ] Attachments and other options feature right below the text box.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

] agree with you regarding msconfig, I've just seen several times where people have completely fouled up their PC's messing with it...same can be said for services.msc ....

That was why I included the part regarding/wondering how competent he was or felt about messing around in the OS and provided a help link, to provide a guide for these 2 areas...

I uninstalled everything malware related except SpyBot. Logged in an played a little and it looks like I got it fixed. I'll log in tonight hopefully and fly a little.

 Thanks for all the suggestions.
