The question came up about C.O.’s, who are in control of the fleets, manauvering them out of harms way when torps are in the water. Some felt it was fair play, other felt it was not.
Back a couple of years ago you could not control the fleets in Warbirds, but it is a feature/option we have here and one I would not deny.
Granted it makes it more difficult to sink any ships if the Frame C.O. is baby sitting them, but he can’t know if or when the attack will come, and even if he did it would be impossible to watch them all.
Many of you know Hitech’s mention of submarines in the future. You can rest assured we will use these, any and other vehicles he design’s in Aces High. When sub’s are part of the game play I would not expect a fleet of ships to run a “straight course” when fish are in the water. Nor would I expect them now.
I do feel that only the Frame C.O.’s should be controlling the fleets. Consequently he would have to ground himself to keep an eye on all his Task Groups, with no guarantee it would help save any ships. Or he could fly and hope he does not have to turn any Task Groups when an enemy is on his “own” six.
If any other person BESIDES the frame C.O. takes command of a fleet that person will be ejected from the TOD for the remainder of that frame.
Other players can call out contacts and if a fleet is under attack to the frame C.O, but cannot manouver the fleet at any time.
