Film Viewer crashing on or after startup
« on: June 06, 2019, 02:32:58 PM »
Hi All,
I wanted to make some movies to promote AH3 on my social media accounts, but the film viewer crashes after a couple of seconds. I'm running Windows 10. I searched this on the forums and besides re-installing, I wondered if there is a less drastic tip anyone knew, the pain of remembering passwords etc.

Initially when I launched the viewer it seemed not to launch at all, but after a day or two of trying to opening it, it does appear, but is gone before I can get the mouse to the menu bar, the longest perhaps was 4-5 seconds.

Thanks.

On my home computer I have noticed if I maximize the window it crashes. On my work computer I had to make a new shortcut. Before that it seemed to crash every time. Once you get it to stay open you'll find many more quirks.

Thanks for that, I haven't made a shortcut. Cheers!

Are you trying to load an older film or just starting the film viewer from the start menu?

Hi FLS, I'm just trying to start the viewer from the PC start menu and it opens but then crashes or closes before I can get to the viewer's menu and load anything.

I've not tried re-installing AH3 yet. The PC is relatively new to me, a used i4 or i5 with Windows 10.

Mine starts right up. No idea so far why yours won't. You could post your DXdiag in case that helps. I assume you run the game OK so your PC should run the film viewer the same.

If you reinstall the game, install it over the current installation to keep your settings.
