Determining Sunset Times
« on: January 05, 2020, 11:19:33 AM »

Hello Friends of Twinkles,

I'm having a beer here in the O'Club forum IRL as well and wanted to know if anyone knows how to calculate the sunset times in AH? No I'm not joking, Sometimes I go in just to watch the sunset. Sometimes after bailing out on the top of a high mountain range or just parked in a Jeep at the end of an obscure runway deep in the Fatherland where nobody will laugh at me.

I'm betting there are others out there like me. If so, let's all bail out onto the top of a mountain right before the sun is going to set. We don't have to hold hands and sing Kumbaya or anything like that, just a short respite from the war.

There are bird sounds now and wind sounds and it is all just absolutely magnificent. Anyway back to my question(s):
1/ Are the sunsets regular?
2/ How do you calculate the sunsets? Are they based on the clock inside the tower?
3/ How do we talk HiTech Creations into extending the amount of sunset time? Do you think a petition would have an impact? Or maybe contacting everyone that claims to live in the area? Maybe they could picket the AH Headquarters with signs? "Save the Sunsets" or "SSSS- Sun Set So Soon". I like it!
4/ How can we get more sounds of nature added to the game? What about wildlife? I'm really surprised that birdstrikes have not been factored into the game considering how picky all the other settings might be with regards to load out and aircraft performance figures.

All help is appreciated. More info to follow on Twinkles Sunset Club. Anyone interested in joining let me know. Before we can start a club though we have to know when the sun sets right? Good. Thanks!

Dawn and dusk have found a fan!

That's an interesting take on it.   Sunsets in real life are my favorite thing.    Never thought of it like you have presented.

You can set a custom arena or offline play to any time of day you prefer. You can have permanent sunrise/sunset or real time not speeded up sunrise/sunset whenever you want.

Great Idea for offline use...Just let it run. Thanks!

I was thinking the amount of sunset time could be extended in the regular Melee arena to about two hours like IRL. Sunset then dusk. But, I can understand why players would not like that as a permanent setting.

I'm going to fiddle with the settings to see what happens but keeping it in offline mode at sunset answers my question I know I can move the Gamma in online mode but didn't think I could have the dynamic sunset.

If I could set the main arena to sunset all the time while everyone else is daytime, that would be a disadvantage but it would be nothing that Twinkles the Magnificent could not overcome.  thank you very much...going to check settings
  :salute

I can set sunset any time inside my home and have the birds and breeze.  :D

I have Lifx lighting with Scenes and Google Home. Set it up all by voice. The fans all have breeze so they run at a setting and every once in awhile ramp up and down for a breeze.

Kind of cool since you were speaking of sunsets.

I like the sunrise and sunset. It is easier for M-8 driver to hide in a bush then attack them after they go by......followed by a KaBoom shortly after.   :D :D :D

The views are pretty good.

Seems to me that sunset is directly tied to within a few minutes of any random time I may log in. It's become the running gag of the guys I fly with. Never misses!
