Something from the past I wanted to share with you guys. Maybe some of you remember:
One of the things I feel fortunate to have grown up with was the animated TV series "Johnny Quest". And one of the absolute best things about this series was the soundtrack music. The Hanna Barbera Orchestra under the direction of Hoyt Curtin was just astonishingly good. Such a tight brass section. The action-packed or suspenseful score really added so much to every episode, and I still love to listen to it. Very much a 60s jazz feel.
"Hoyt Curtain was a world class composer and arranger. He just happened to fall in to the animation business. I can only imagine if a mind like his had stumbled into film scoring. Musicians loved/feared playing his charts. Millions of people watching these shows had no idea about the depth and intricacy of these scores. Beautiful music can happen in the most unexpected places."
