RTX 4000 (and high end 3090) needs ATX 3.0

Might inform some folks looking forward to the RTX 4000s

Speaks about the 4000 series...
"the current PSU system won’t cope with the high power excursions – as they call the energy spikes of the new graphic cards technology."

It also mentions that a 3090 can spike at 533 watts and 3090 Ti can go above 650 watts.

Kinda explains the flashing red lights on my ASUS 3090. Based on multiple google searches of the issue I was pretty sure it was ether dirty power at the wall plug or the card's brief power demand that my psu couldn't handle. Seasonic's power recommendation for my current build, not counting installed missing component options, starts with my current Seasonic 1000 watt psu.

I'm hoping my rig can wait until mid December when the Seasonic VERTEX PX 1200 w will be available. The MSRP is less than half the price of my current 1000 w model on Amazon.

 "Need" is a strong word - "optimal" would be IMO more accurate, but you're not wrong, to get max performance and avoid a lot of issues (probably), ATX 3.0 will be necessary.  I have a 1300 G2 PSU in my 3090ti system, and a Seasonic Prime 1300 platinum in my 4090.

I'm in the same boat as you, waiting for the ATX3.0 Seasonic to come out.

One thing I'll say is a huge must have is Cablemod's 90 degree adapter for the ridiculously designed plugs/location on the GPU.  What a PITA, some propeller head engineer had to have come up with that idea.

If dirty power is a problem, you should consider a good sine wave Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).

I would recommend something from APC, Tripp Lite, and CyberPower in the 1500VA/1000W range and make sure it's a "Sine Wave" ups.
