Doing it for real with the Air Force!
« on: July 31, 2023, 03:53:59 PM »
Checking back since a lot of y'all wanted me to pop in after I was done! Long story short, I got my Private Pilot's License after 2 months of training in Miami, on scholarship from Air Force Junior ROTC!

I can't get pictures to work, so yeah, I tried uploading but it wouldn't work.

I graduated top of my class and was the first one to solo, although a lot of things were familiar from Aces High and other sims, I had to learn just about everything fresh. I've spun and barrel rolled a Cessna 152, flown cross country, at night, and on instruments! Needless to say, I fly a little differently in sims now!

If I can ever get pictures to work, I'll share them.

Congratulations. There are a few of us in here that made a career flying airplanes. Blessed means earning a living doing what you love.

Congrats to you.

My dad and uncle were in the AF, uncle being a B-29 pilot.

Was supposed to get my private license after high school, but got a failing grade on my report card. .<blank stare> just never pursued it

My grand-uncle Frank Alexander was a B-29 pilot in WWII. 5th Air Force. In his own words, he flew "all the bombers" but liked the B-25 Mitchell, called it a hot rod.
He was the captain training to drop the third nuke on Japan with his crew, if they had called for another to be manufactured and dropped.
My relatives are essentially split 50-50 between Air Force and Navy, so it's only natural that those are the branches I'm aiming to fly for haha.

Computer Skills like picture loading is only included in Airbus training. Military and Boeing pilots don't receive that training.
