X45 info v X36 Saitek stick

Well I got a new x 45 yesterday , compUSA did the store warr. for me for 5 bucks this time , v 10 last time. I got my spare x 36 on my pc yet so have not used it but have taken it out of box and looked it over etc .

OK ,
the x45 does NOT have the gameport plug anymore .
Even though the x45 box shows NO mouse button on
throttle it's still there . The pinkie switch is too damn
big now , but some have said that you can take it off ?

LMAO this is the funnest , the center spring and plastic
shim . OK here's what they did to so call fix the center
slop . On the x36 you can pull up the stick from the base
to check just how much slop there is . Now on the x45
they have put a big assed spring and plastic washer , shim
between the stick and the base , it now pushes up all the
time so you don't notice the slop thats still there . To see
just how much is there , just push DOWN and it's just like my
x36 .  Now I am not a engineer but looks to me that with
the extra pressure it should wear faster with this new set up .

Plus the fire button on the stick works the opposite , up the cover to fire .

It's not a smooth at the center IMO but am sure with a little time you won't notice it . Have not used the new software so don't know how that will work , better or worse .

I  got a Couger coming if they ever get them done Then I say good bye to Saitek .

yes, small flat head screwdrivre will pop the pinkie grip thingy out of the way

I also suggest wax paper (wax on both sides, fold if nedded)  cut in a circle  with a slit and hole for the shaft slipped under the spring washer btwn the washer and the top of the bottom ... helps the stick from sticking when you making small moves..

I think the X36 was a better stick, but what can u do ...

I have found that powdered graphite works real well to get rid of the pesky little hitch with small stick movements.
Just trim a little off the base of the firebutton cover so the cover can make contact with the button and it works just like the x-36

hmm so it is not much improvment from the x35 i understand,
but that was a good one so they might not needed to improve much on it ?
Only problem for me is sge software for winxp but that will not
come I understand. Then again it is working great with the core drivers in AH

You can also get most of the programability back by using the Hazard Script and drivers from   http://saitekhelp.simhq.com/

Once you get the idea of how it works it is actually easier than the stupid SGE was.

airspo... I have recently inltalled the x45. It works much petter then the x36 (I think). And it doesnt conflick with the game like the x36 did, and much easier to program the rotary switches.
      I am VERY  please with the new x45. I just down't like the new colors ...and like I said    MUCH  easier to program
