Dear Mr. and Mrs. Griz,
It is with deep regret and a heavy heart that I must inform you of your sons passing while on patrol over the Baltic Sea yesterday. He was a couragous and dedicated fighter pilot, and will be missed by the younger pilots of the squad.
Cpt. Griz took off from Malmo at approximately 13:20 when radar reported a formation heading southeast over the Kattegat. He was on a reconnasance mission and was flying without a wingman. Radio contact was lost but, through the underground, his gun film was found and delivered intact and this is what we've been able to determine:
Contact was made and Cpt. Griz dove on the formation to scatter them about. One Ju88 was set ablaze and exploded when the crew were unable to extinguish the fire. After extending away and then returning for another, Cpt. Griz was bounced by a high Me109, most likely escort for the bomber formation. Managing to evade the initial attack, Cpt. Griz once again descended on the bombers, achieving multiple hits to another Ju88 and damaging it extensively. By this time the Messerschmitt had maneuvered for a kill, and Cpt. Griz, showing superior ability, jinked and rolled to get on the 109's tail. Lining up for the kill, it is suspected that Griz's attention was momentarily distracted, as another Me109 came from above and shot Cpt. Griz from behind. This is later proved correct by Griz's final words on the radio, " Oh toejam, didn't see you.

Mr. and Mrs. Griz, you should be proud of your sons dedication and determination, as we all are, and of his unerring courage and honor in defending the homeland. Rest assured the evil Hun who shot him in the back is being actively hunted as we speak, and reports of his activities are coming in hourly. I suspect it is only a matter of time before your sons' death is avenged.
